For the 14th year running, Switzerland tops the list of the world's most innovative countries.

The Global Innovation Index 2025, now in its 18th edition, measures the innovation performance of 140 countries and reveals the 100 most active innovation hubs in the world.

It tracks global innovation trends through investment patterns, technological advances, adoption rates, and socioeconomic impacts. It is a useful resource for governments, businesses, researchers, and anyone interested in the development of innovation ecosystems around the world.

The 100 largest innovation hubs in the world

The ranking of hubs proposed by the Global Innovation Index, enriched with venture capital data, reveals the world's largest innovation hubs:

• Tokyo-Yokohama
• San Jose–San Francisco
• Beijing
• Seoul
• Shanghai-Suzhou
• New York

• Boston-Cambridge
• Los Angeles

The top 100 hubs together account for around 70% of patent applications and venture capital activity worldwide, highlighting their central role in the future of innovation.
